The Large-Scale Residential Development planning application has been lodged for a 582-bed student accommodation complex in Waterford City. The proposed development promises to address the growing demand for high-quality student housing while enhancing the overall living experience for students in the region.
This is huge news for the future of student life in Waterford with it’s proximity and convenience to SETU. The proposed 4-storey apartment blocks will be less than 500m from SETU Cork Road Campus. This development also includes a 4000 sqm (approx) of secured courtyard for students, a public plaza and 139 sqm of retail space fronting onto the Cork Road.
Landscaping and amenity features, such as a central courtyard, a public plaza facing Cork Road, a designated set-down area, a vehicle access point onto Ballybeg Drive, parking spaces for both cars and bicycles, footpaths, and signage installation have also been proposed. Additionally, further improvements will look to be made to the pedestrian and cycling infrastructure along Lacken Road, including the addition of a pedestrian crossing, improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists, installation of lighting, drainage systems, landscaping, and boundary treatments, which include incorporating PV solar technology at roof level.
