Fewer Harrington and Partners & FTCO were appointed by Coillte to carry out feasibility studies for a residential scheme at Castlemartyr, Co. Cork.
The site was zoned as residential and provided an opportunity to deliver a high-quality housing scheme which would address the government’s housing targets, stipulated in the National Planning Framework Plan 2020. The scheme also had an opportunity to provide a well-designed, modern family home to Castlemartyr.
After an extensive pre-design process, FHP assessed the site’s location and carried out an initial SWOT analysis which informed the design objectives for the scheme.
This scheme promotes a long-term, healthy, diverse and sociable environment for all future and existing residents, that will contribute in a positive and enriching way to all the existing surrounding communities and will provide a sustainable solution for the urban growth of the city, and the increasing demand for housing options in Castlemartyr. A key design objective for this scheme was for it to blend into its natural environment.
