FHP has completed the handover of the LEED Accredited IDA Advanced Technology Building. The innovative building spans 3,150m².
Fewer Harrington & Partners was contracted, as architects, to provide IDA Ireland with a c. 3,150m² Advanced Technology Building, including associated car parking, site services, landscaping and related works with additional adjoining land, for scalability and future expansion.
Parkmore Business & Technology Park is home to many high-end manufacturing and international services clients, and this project for IDA Ireland is in response to the growth and demand in this area of Galway.
The IDA Advanced Technology Building was designed to achieve LEED Accreditation and contains office space over two floors, fitted out to include raised access floors, suspended ceilings, lighting, heating, air conditioning, finished toilets and common areas.
There is a modern, business park standard facade treatment of glass, steel and architectural panels, in a number of planes. FHP maintained the roofline overhead, allowing the slimline floating roof to provide a dramatic covered entrance.
A colonnade feature to the open-plan office elevation, with recessed glazing, provides solar shading to the office area. This finishes to the underside of the roof soffit – a continuation of the slim line-floating roof over the main entrance.
The site includes an external courtyard to the North-West elevation, which allowed us to provide windows overlooking this area from the smaller open-plan offices.
We carried our design principles to all elevations of the building and used quality materials throughout. Additionally, all facing materials are maintenance-free and will carry a ‘long life’ guarantee on the performance and colour retention of their external appearance.
The use of glazing within the stepped planes of the colonnade, the recessed feature entrance and the slimline floating roof of the building all intend to draw the eye.
The IDA Advanced Technology Building in Parkmore Business & Technology Park, Galway, is a cutting-edge, modern and innovative building. As a frequent design contractor for IDA Ireland, Fewer Harrington & Partners looks forward to working on future IDA projects including additional Advanced Office Buildings in Sligo, Carlow and Athlone.
